After completing the primary procedures of beginning a business, it was time to look at a corporate logo design. One crucial lesson I’ve learned when it comes to company logos is that more often than not, people do judge a book by its cover. Hence, a corporate logo design should relay as much as possible about a business or product.
Realizing this, the next thing to do was to look for a reliable logo design company to produce a professional logo design that would help reflect all the values my company had to offer. Having said that,, I was not on the lookout for a traditional corporate logo designer as a result of my budget and time limitations, but neither was I in search of an amateur designer. Luckily, the internet is brimming with design firms whose work is more than acceptable.
After surfing the net and examining around 30 different design firms, I learned a few things. The first thing I learned was always read the clauses, if any. A number of sites contain attention grabbing headlines and prices but unknown to most, they are subject to caveats. Do not fall for these sly schemes. The following are 3 of the most widely encountered ones.
Limited Revisions
A number of sites display distinctly ridiculous low charges for their creative services but a deeper look would reveal the drawbacks. Certain low price deals only come with only two free revisions or fewer. If the logo designer does not create something up to your expectations within this period, you could end up having to part with extra until you finally get what you want. To be sure that you never find yourself in this mess, always look for deals with unlimited revisions or a full money back guarantee.
Price Displayed Covers Initial Work ONLY
A lot of logo design companies use this sly trick as a means to squeeze a little extra revenue from many unsuspecting clients. The displayed price only extends to initial creative concepts and does not include the final logos designs. Clients will have to foot extra if they require the finalized design. You can help avoid this situation by confirming that the price stated includes ownership of the final design.
High Resolution Files
This is amazingly another technique certain logo design agencies trap you when you least expect it. For a change, the price displayed comprises everything from the initial concepts to the finalized corporate logo design. The catch is the amount does not cover hi-res files. You will discover that hi-res files are crucial for printing purposes especially for business stationary such as name cards and envelops.
Do not get so easily impressed with the low charges offered by some logo design companies. If you reckon it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Do some homework just to be on the safe side.
From the 30 or so design companies I looked at, most of them displayed prices ranging from $50 to $500 for their services. I chose the one that costs around $70. It not very difficult to find a professional logo design firm that’s not out to scheme you. Just use the advice listed above and you should be okay.
