Being a single parent to a couple of 7 year old twin boys isn’t what one would call a leisurely walk in a park. Especially so as its little league soccer season again. This time around yours truly is to be the main honcho for getting the uniforms done.
Being one of but 3 male parents among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was a little bit of an effort to get the majority of the committee to come to an agreement not to change the team’s uniform color from red to a color I’ve never even heard off. But try as we might, we failed to change the team moniker to The Red Dragons from The Red Flamingos.
After searching for uniforms, and believe it or not - sponsors, it came to my attention that our soccer team did not even have a logo. I raised this matter with the other 2 dads and we concluded that it might be a a superb idea if we could have our own soccer team emblem. So we came to a decision to create a team logo each and exhibit them to the committee.
The 3 of us got together the subsequent weekend with our works of art and ended up having a laugh at ourselves, before we concluded that maybe designing wasn’t our thing. Apparently my Flamingo gave certain people the impression that it was a Woodpecker on steroids. The overly hyped designs from the other two weren’t much better. One could be mistaken for a piece by Picasso and the other looked like bored doodlings from a miserable victim of a 4 hour long weekly meeting. But we went ahead and displayed the design drafts to the committee nonetheless.
Though the committee collectively prohibited the 3 of us from designing anything club related for the remainder of our lives, they did agree to the idea that our team should probably have its own logo. So I went back and did a search for logo design greece, shortlisted a couple of design agencies and handed them to the committee.
Now we are excited to say that our soccer team has its own custom logo. We had patches made for the team uniforms and stickers made just for fun - thanks to some sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop next to the park. The team logo itself looks genuinely cool with a a bright red Flamingo standing on one leg and the other casually resting on a soccer ball looking like the real deal.
A little bird told me that next year I’ll be in charge of refreshments. I’m thinking about taking it a notch higher and am in the process of getting the paperwork done to present to Powerade about a sponsorship agreement.
